Bob Murphy
State Director
AARP Colorado
Bob Murphy has an extensive private and public sector background, including 22 years serving the residents of Lakewood, CO (pop. 150,000) as a Planning Commissioner, 1994-1999, City Councilor, 1999-2007 and Mayor, 2007-2015.
During his tenure in public service, Bob led Lakewood through many transformational projects, including the opening of Lakewood’s first hospitals, the city’s first light rail line, and the re-development of Belmar, turning a failed regional shopping mall into a vibrant mixed-use downtown.
He is a past chair of the 40-member Denver Metro Mayors Caucus, where he was instrumental in regional planning in the areas of housing, transportation and economic development.
Bob joined AARP as Colorado’s State Director in 2016. AARP is a non-profit, non-partisan organization with 38 million members nationwide, and nearly 700,000 members in Colorado.
Jean Nofles
AARP Colorado State President
Currently, I am a volunteer for AARP. I am also the volunteer State President for Colorado.
I have worked in both the public and private sectors, with the public sector being more predominant. Throughout my career the recurrent themes have been social interaction, public interest regulation, navigation of complicated organizational structures, that is, understanding organizational behavior. I have worked in all levels of government from the local level, through the county level, state level and finally the federal level as a manager for CMS, as Chief in three separate program/financial areas. I have an awareness and understanding of why and how organizations work. In retirement, these experiences compel me to want to continue contributing in ways that might make our lives just a little better.
