Ashland Inc. (NYSE: ASH) will host a live Innovation Day on Tuesday, September 12, 2023, beginning at 9:30 a.m. ET at the company’s corporate headquarters in Wilmington, Delaware. To participate in person or by webcast, please register here. The event will be webcast live and include prepared remarks by members of Ashland executives followed by a moderated question-and-answer (Q&A) session. For those attending in person, Ashland will host guided tours of several research and development laboratories located onsite. Guillermo Novo Chair and CEO Ashland Guillermo Novo joined Ashland’s Board of Directors in May 2019 and he became Chief Executive Officer of Ashland December 31, 2019. Previously he was the President and Chief Executive Officer of Versum Materials and a member of its Board of Directors.
Novo also served as Executive Vice President, Materials Technologies of Air Products. He joined Air Products in 2012 as Senior Vice President Electronics, Performance Materials, Strategy and Technology. Prior to Air Products, he was employed by Dow Chemical Company where he most recently served as group vice president, Dow Coating Materials.
Novo began his career in 1986 with Rohm and Haas Company (which merged with Dow in 2009) and over the next 24 years progressed through a variety of commercial, marketing, and general management positions, living in South America, the U.S. and Asia. In 1998, he was named a vice president at Rohm and Haas, and in 2006 he became a corporate officer and one of five group executives on the corporate leadership team.
He holds an industrial engineering degree from the University of Central Florida and an MBA from the University of Michigan. Novo also serves on the advisory board for the College of Engineering & Computer Science at the University of Central Florida.
Osama Musa Senior Vice President, Chief Technology Officer Ashland Dr. Osama M. Musa is currently Senior Vice President and Chief Technology Officer for Ashland Inc. (NYSE: ASH). He leads Ashland’s Global Research and Development focusing on consumer and industrial markets including pharmaceutical, personal care, beverage, nutrition, agricultural, coatings, adhesives, and energy applications. Dr. Musa has overall responsibility for Ashland's global technology including Applied Research, Measurement Science, Biofunctionals, Acrylates & Microencapsulation, Preservatives & Microbial Technology, as well as the R&D Stage-Gate development process. In addition to these technical roles, he has the commercial and technical responsibility for Ashland’s Advanced Materials business.
Dr. Musa is a strategic senior executive with broad experience in the specialty chemicals business sector. He utilizes a wide-ranging network, cooperating with partners both in the industry and in academia. Dr. Musa joined Ashland in 2011 following the company’s acquisition of International Specialty Products (ISP) Incorporated. Previously, he held technical and leadership positions with the National Starch and Chemical Company.
As a passionate leader, Dr. Musa is committed to addressing customer needs through the application of innovative chemistry. From Ashland’s Open Innovation platform, he cultivates student scholarship through numerous collaborations with universities, providing encouragement and motivational mentoring to the next generation of young, promising scientists. He serves as a member of the Advisory Board at Manhattan College’s Department of Electrical and Computer Engineering as well as a member of the Board of Trustees at Chemists' Club of NYC. In addition, he sits on the Advisory Board of the International Journal of Humanitarian Technology (IJHT).
Jim Minicucci Senior Vice President, Strategy, Mergers and Acquisitions, and Portfolio Management Ashland Jim is an experienced global business leader with a strong track record for delivering top and bottom-line results. His commercial and operational acumen extends beyond running businesses and incudes an extensive background in corporate and business unit strategies as well as mergers and acquisitions (M&A).
Jim has extensive international experience in Asia (Taiwan and South Korea), which will enable Ashland to invest to expand business globally. Prior to Ashland, Jim served as the senior vice president, global specialty gases at MERCK KGaA, Darmstadt, Germany. Prior to that he led businesses at Versum Materials as well as corporate strategy and M&A at Air Products. Jim was a leader in the chemicals and industrial practice at Marakon Associates, (A Charles River Associates Co.). Early in his career, he worked with Rohm and Haas and The Gillette Company.
Jim is a graduate of Northeastern University in Boston, Massachusetts with a Bachelor of Science, and a Master of Science degree in Chemical Engineering. He speaks several languages and is an avid cyclist.
Kevin Willis Senior Vice President and Chief Financial Officer Ashland Mr. Willis, was elected senior vice president and chief financial officer of Ashland in 2013. He oversees Ashland's worldwide financial functions and processes, including financial accounting and reporting, treasury and finance, insurance, business development, planning and analysis, investor relations, tax and internal audit activities. A member of Ashland's Executive Committee, he shares overall responsibility for setting Ashland's global strategy, managing capital, and upholding Ashland's operating principles.
Willis joined Ashland in 1987 as an associate auditor in the internal audit department. He served in various management positions of increasing responsibility, including leading teams on major projects in the business services, information technology, accounting and finance areas. Spending nearly three years in The Netherlands, he helped lead Ashland's effort to standardize processes and implement accounting and other administrative shared services across European operations.
In 2004, Willis was designated general auditor. Later in 2007, he was appointed vice president and treasurer of Ashland. Since Ashland's acquisition of International Specialty Products (ISP) in August 2011, Willis served as Ashland's vice president of finance, and controller for Ashland Specialty Ingredients, Ashland's largest and fastest-growing commercial unit. He was responsible for the day-to-day management of the financial organization and processes within Specialty Ingredients and served on the leadership team.
A native of Richmond, Ky., Kevin earned a bachelor’s degree in accounting from Eastern Kentucky University and an MBA from the Kellogg School of Management at Northwestern University.
Ashok Kalyana Senior Vice President and General Manager, Life Sciences and Intermediates Ashland Ashok Kalyana is the senior vice president and general manager, Life Sciences and Intermediates, Ashland.
Ashok is an experienced business leader with a strong record of delivering top and bottom-line results. His commercial acumen extends to multiple regions and industries and is enhanced by a deep background in strategic marketing and planning. He has a proven track record of succeeding in business-centric organizations. Prior to joining Ashland, Ashok led Tate & Lyle’s Asia Pacific Commercial and Business Development. Prior to that, the majority of his career has been with Dow Chemical and Rohm and Haas leading specialty materials businesses.
Ashok graduated from Osmania University in Hyderabad, India as a Chemical Engineer. He later obtained his Master of Science in Chemical Engineering from Florida State University and an MBA from University of Virginia’s Darden School of Business.
Min Chong Senior Vice President and General Manager, Personal Care and Specialty Additives Ashland Min Chong is the senior vice president and general manager, Personal Care and Specialty Additives, Ashland.
Min is a strong business leader with demonstrated success in a business centric operating model. He has managed large businesses with significant asset footprints and technology investments. His experience includes a wide range of roles including engineering, supply chain, marketing, and commercial management.
Prior to Ashland, Min spent three years at Evonik running the Global Crosslinker Business. He also held several leadership roles at Air Products which included leading the Performance Materials business in Asia and running the Global Epoxy Additives business.
Min was born in Busan, South Korea and grew up in Anchorage, Alaska. 1994, Min earned a bachelor’s degree in chemical engineering from Carnegie Mellon Pittsburgh and in 2006, he obtained his MBA at Lehigh University.
Seth Mrozek Director, Investor Relations Ashland Seth A. Mrozek joined Ashland in 2012 to help lead Ashland’s corporate development initiatives during the company’s transformation into a specialty additives leader.
In November 2015, he was promoted to Director, Investor Relations. Seth is an experienced finance professional, spending the first part of his career in financial services as a credit analyst and then as a Vice President in mergers and acquisition advisory. Seth holds a Bachelor of Science degree in physics from Brown University and an MBA from the Tepper School of Business at Carnegie Mellon University.
