Over the next 18 months, banks operating in the cross border space will have to prepare themselves for what is probably the most far-reaching period of change our industry has witnessed in decades. Market Infrastructures across the globe are migrating to ISO 20022 while SWIFT is introducing is Transaction Manager as part of its new strategy. What is not yet understood at this stage, however, is that all banks on the SWIFT network will be affected. Moreover, the Transaction Manager will, going forward, also radically change the way in which cross border payments are processed.

Christian Fraedrich

Head of Cash Business Architecture

Corporate Bank, Deutsche Bank

Christian Fraedrich has been head of Cash Business Architecture in Deutsche Bank’s Corporate Bank division since March 2020 responsible for transforming the bank’s core payment infrastructure and executing the global ISO 20022 readiness program. He joined Deutsche Bank in 2009 in the Retail Bank division’s Business Development team driving various strategic change initiatives including European branch growth and the integration of Deutsche Postbank. From February 2016 to March 2020, Christian took over responsibility for the cash clearing products offered to correspondent banking clients and represented Deutsche Bank in various industry groups in Europe.

Jerome Piens

Tribe Lead, Transaction Management


Jerome Piens was appointed Tribe Lead of the Transaction Management in November 2020. He currently leads the business and engineering streams evolving SWIFT’s strategic platform to enable instant and frictionless cross-border transactions. Previously Jerome was Head of Platform Services in Technology Platform, Head of Central Platform in Marketing and Programme Manager for Australia NPP instant payment solution. Jerome joined SWIFT in 2002.

Bradley Lonnen is Head of Market Management, Institutional Cash Management at Deutsche Bank. The Market Management team is responsible for market analysis, product & service positioning, thought leadership as well as identifying business opportunities.Bradley has over 20 years’ experience in Transaction Banking having held previous roles in Marketing, Securities Services as well as Corporate Cash Management & Trade Finance.
