Alain Dilworth Programme Manager Made Smarter As Programme Manager of Made Smarter NW Alain has overseen the successful development and delivery of the North West adoption programme – which has supported hundreds of SME manufacturers to adopt digital technology.
During Alain’s tenure Made Smarter NW has funded more than 300 projects in the region and is forecast to boost the North West economy by £242m in GVA.
Alain graduated from Southampton University with degree in electronics and spent five years in oil exploration, followed by 25 years in manufacturing businesses.
In 2010 Alain started work for the NWDA to pursue his interest in economic development, moving to The Growth Company to deliver several successful regional and national government-funded programmes.
Benjamin Wielgosz Geo-Spatial Development Manager Olam Food Ingredients (ofi) After completing degrees in Mathematics and Geography at UCLA, Ben began his career mapping logistics corridors for the UN World Food Programme (WF) in Pakistan & South Sudan. After completing a master’s degree in international economics from American University (AU), he worked as a spatial analyst at the International Food Policy Research Institute (IFPRI) in Washington DC, supporting agricultural and environmental economics projects in Nigeria, Uganda, Pakistan and Cambodia.
He has since worked as a program manager for information and reporting with the World Economic Forum’s New Vision for Agriculture and is currently the Geo Spatial Development Manager for Olam Food Ingredients, one of the world's largest agricultural processors/traders specialized in sourcing Coffee, Cocoa, Nuts, Spices and Dairy ingredients behind many major brands. His current role focuses on mainstreaming and increasing the internal adoption of spatial data use and geography across all business units, with the goal of improving the measuring and reporting on deforestation, natural capital and other environmental reporting metrics to improve the sustainability of the supply chain.
