DESCRIPTION:During the May 2025 MUA/P Interest Group Session, Angela Cole, MBA, DIO at Detroit Wayne County Health Authority GME Consortium and Veronica Hooper, DO, DIO at Yakima Valley Farm Workers Clinic will present “Partnerships in Underserved GME: Teaching Health Centers.” Following the presentation, participants will have Q/A with the speakers and engage in large group discussion. This call is part of a series of one-hour Zoom calls that are held monthly and are open to the entire GME community. The aim of these interest group sessions is for the community to learn about efforts in GME and MUA/P, to solve for common challenges, and to share helpful knowledge and resources. During these calls, institutional and program GME leaders will connect with their peers through discussion and will have an interface with the ACGME to build information and knowledge on various topics of relevance to the GME community.

Detroit Wayne County Health Authority (dba Authority Health) GME Consortium

Angela Cole is a results-driven leader with 26 years of experience in Graduate Medical Education (GME) operations, compliance, and program management. As the Designated Institutional Officer (DIO) at the Detroit Wayne County Health Authority (Authority Health) GME Consortium, she oversees multiple THCGME programs, ensuring regulatory adherence and program excellence. She holds an MBA in Management and Organizational Development (cum laude) from Spring Arbor University, blending academic knowledge with practical expertise. Her leadership roles—including Institution Coordinator, Administrative Director, and Program Manager—have honed her skills in budgeting, stakeholder engagement, and accreditation compliance. A Harvard ManageMentor Leadership-certified professional and member of the American College of Healthcare Executives, she is also a former Treasurer of the Michigan Association of Medical Educators. Committed to strengthening medical education, Angela Cole dedicates herself to fostering the growth of future healthcare professionals.

Veronica Hooper, DO

Yakima Valley Farm Workers Clinic

Dr. Veronica Hooper joined the Yakima Valley Farm Workers Clinic in 2024, drawn by its mission, vision, and dedication. Since then, she has guided the clinic's approach to delivering care in local communities and addressing patient needs across its network. Beginning her career as a primary care physician, Dr. Hooper valued building relationships with patients, getting to know their families, and witnessing their growth. Over time, she developed a passion for healthcare administration, recognizing it as an opportunity to make a broader impact on patient care across the network. She remains committed to improving the health of both the clinic’s patients and the community it serves.
