Gebrine El Khoury started medical school at the University Catholic of Louvain in 1977 and finished in 1984 (cum Maxima Laude). He joined, in September 1991, the Cliniques Universitaires Saint-Luc, Brussels, as Associated Professor in the Department of Cardiovascular and Thoracic Surgery – Catholic University of Louvain. Since 2004, he is head of the Cardiovascular and Thoracic Surgery Department. Gebrine is recognised as a pioneer in aortic valve repair. He and his team run what has become a key centre in the treatment of valve disease. The centre is now considered a true authority on cardiac surgery, as illustrated by its many daily visitors, its active involvement in high-level international conferences (live surgery, lectures, postgraduate courses, etc.) and the organisation of three international meetings each year.
Laurent de Kerchove

Laurent de Kerchove started his medical school in 1992 and graduated from Université Catholique de Louvain, Belgium, in 1999. After four years training in general surgery, he specialised in cardiovascular surgery with Professor R Dion at the Leiden University Medical Center in the Netherlands and with Professor G El Khoury at the Cliniques Universitaires Saint-Luc in Brussels. In 2008, he joined the surgeon’s staff at the Cliniques Universitaires Saint-Luc where he is currently working. He did his PhD in May 2014 on the role of annuloplasty in aortic valve repair. His special areas of interests in cardiac surgery are aortic surgery, valve repair and minimal access techniques.

Dr Mauro Del Giglio is currently Cardiac Surgeon of the Cardiac Surgery at Villa maria pia Hospital in Torino and Villa Torri in Bologna (both are part of Villa Maria Group).
Dr. Mauro del Giglio is a heart surgeon who has made innovation and experimentation one of his workhorses. His approach and expertise led him to become one of the greatest experts in Italy of aortic valve stenosis.
His expertise areas: minithoracotomies for aortic valve replacement, minithoracotomies for mitral surgery, acute dissections of the aorta, complete replacement of the aortic arch, sling interventions of the papillary muscles during mitral surgery.
