Our panel of key opinion leaders in clinical research from both sponsor and provider side will discuss the innovation happening in clinical trial design, recruitment, and execution. We will talk about the challenges facing sites t impacting day-to-day care and clinical research.  Panelists will discuss innovative approaches to traditional ways of running clinical trials. One area that has promise of making a big impact is the use of AI to help sites and sponsors reduce burden on staff and sites.   

We will also discuss the need for EMR, EDC and other systems to innovate at the same pace as the needs for clinical research are. Our panelists will address the needs for federal incentives and oversight to ensure that companies are open to collaboration and innovation.

Gaelan Ritter

As the head of Analytics Innovation and Digital Health, Gaelan and his team are responsible for leading cutting edge real-world data alliances and most importantly creating and developing innovations across R&D. He co-leads the BMS digital innovation pillar for global drug development, which is enabling a spectrum of digital solutions, including several types of digital trial capabilities. Gaelan is an industry leader in the development and infusion of digital innovation solutions to enable optimization of pharma drug development. In past roles Gaelan has led and developed strategic partnerships with large academic medical centers and networks. He has also supported trial design and start-up for the BMS oncology and immunology programs. This experience led him to develop industry leading trial design software and processes that create digital protocols and feed downstream systems and processes. He is passionate about not only the ideation and creation, but the development and business change that creates lasting advancement in the industry. Gaelan holds an MBA from Temple University along with MS in human physiology and biophysics from Georgetown.

Denise D’Auria

Director of Product Management for the Digital Trial Solutions (DTS) software

Denise D’Auria is a Director of Product Management for the Digital Trial Solutions (DTS) software at ConcertAI, a leading AI SaaS solution combining real-world data with the company’s innovative end-to-end clinical trial technology platform to accelerate research solutions. Her current responsibilities include the build and design of a DTS platform module that connects clinical research provider source systems (EMRs, PACs, etc.) with clinical trial software, EDC systems, used by Sponsors, in an effort to expedite the speed at which clinical trial data is available as well as the quality of the data itself. Additionally, she has a passion for patient engagement and oversees DTS’s patient engagement strategy around eConsent, eCOA, and tokenization. Prior to ConcertAI, Denise worked at Medidata Solutions where she was the first project manager hired to deploy Medidata’s Patient Cloud application and eventually became a Sr. Product Manager for the Medidata Patient Cloud team. She also has worked at Clario (formerly, ERT) as a Technical Project Manager for electronic patient reported outcomes (eCOA), IQVIA (formerly, Quintiles), and AG Mednet Inc. Denise earned her PMP certification in 2017 and has a B.S. from Northeastern University in Behavioral Neuroscience.

Jeff Elton, Ph.D.

Jeff Elton, Ph.D., is CEO of ConcertAI, an AI SaaS solutions company providing research solutions and patient-centric solutions for life sciences innovators and the world’s leading providers. ConcertAI is focused on accelerating and improving the precision of retrospective and prospective clinical studies using provider EMRs, LISs, and PACSs systems as the source for all study data. It is a long-term partner partner with the American Society of Clinical Oncology and its CancerLinQ program, US FDA, NCI Health Equity initiatives, and almost 100 healthcare providers across the US. Prior to ConcertAI, Jeff was Managing Director, Accenture Strategy/Patient Health; Global Chief Operating Officer and SVP Strategy at Novartis Institutes of BioMedical Research, Inc.; and partner at McKinsey & Company. He is also a founding board member and senior advisor to several early-stage companies. Jeff is currently a board member of the Massachusetts Biotechnology Council. He is the co-author of the widely cited book, Healthcare Disrupted (Wiley, 2016). Jeff has a Ph.D. and M.B.A. from The University of Chicago.

Jenn Perri RN, MSN, OCN

Oncology Clinical Research Specialist

Jenn Perri, RN, MSN is currently an Oncology Clinical Research Specialist with Quality Cancer Care Alliance. Prior to her appointment she served as the clinical quality and research manager at Redeemer MD Anderson Cancer Center. In addition, she has over twenty years’ experience in oncology care as a nurse leader, manager, teacher, and research advocate. Jenn’s experiences as an oncology nurse have offered her a unique blend of leadership, vision, and knowledge. Jenn has been passionate about learning new advancements in oncology. Remembering the excitement early in her career, when the approval of Herceptin became available for breast cancer patients has fueled her desire to emerge herself in the field of clinical research. She feels strongly that the best treatment for many cancer patients are often the ones we have yet to discover; and this is the pivotal importance of clinical research. She believes strongly in the mission of QCCA that oncology care is best offered in the patient’s own community setting while receiving personal yet technologically advanced care. Jenn is a native to the Philadelphia area and received her BSN at Villanova University and MSN from Holy Family University. Jenn is active in her community as a volunteer with American Cancer Society survivorship day. Jenn is also a member of the National Oncology Nursing Society which seeks to empower nurses caring for cancer patients. When Jenn is not working in the field of Oncology, she enjoys playing tennis and spending time with family.
