Elizabeth O’Brien, DVM, DABVP
Dr. Elizabeth O’Brien graduated from OVC in 1985 and became a Diplomate of the American College of Veterinary Practitioners in feline practice in 1999. She is the owner of two feline only practices in Hamilton, Ontario, where she continues to be in the trenches as a practitioner and a passionate advocate for the welfare of cats. “Dr. Liz” is the visionary for Cat Healthy, whose mission is to increase the value of cats in communities across Canada.
Through her leadership, Dr. Liz brought together the six-board certified feline specialists in Canada and industry partners to create the Cat Healthy initiative. She continues to share her practical knowledge acquired from 33 years of feline practice with veterinary teams, industry teams, shelters, students and cat owners. She was recipient of the CVMA Small Animal Practitioner of the Year Award for 2014.
Allison Wara, DVM, Dipl ACVN
Dr. Allison Wara was born and raised near Ottawa, Ontario. She graduated from the University of Guelph with a Bachelor of Science degree in Honors Zoology and later, the Atlantic Veterinary College with a Doctorate in Veterinary Medicine. Following graduation, Dr. Wara worked for several years at a small animal general practice hospital in Ottawa before pursuing a post-doctoral residency program in clinical nutrition at the University of Missouri. She worked for 3 years on faculty at the University’s Veterinary College where she taught senior level vet students in the clinical years of the curriculum. During this time, she also served as Director of the veterinary hospital’s Physical Rehabilitation and Nutrition Clinic. Dr. Wara is currently a Diplomat of the American College of Veterinary Nutrition and works as a Veterinary Clinical Nutritionist and Scientific Communications Specialist.
